We talk a lot about tolerance in this day and age. There is a difference between tolerance and apathy. Sometimes people mistake the two. It is good to have convictions and to stand up for them while still respecting those individuals with opposing views. It should go both ways. In this video, it doesn't. It is extremely offensive to me that anyone would show so much hate to a symbol of Christ. Stomping on a cross in the middle of the street is not what I would call tolerance. This country was built on the idea of religious freedom, and I am terribly offended when people don't respect that.

At the end, the newscaster says that both sides are showing hate... In this specific case, I have to disagree.

Prop 8

Good news: Prop 8 passed! I am totally excited. Back when Prop 22 was all the buzz, I was all for gay marriage and it really bothered me that my parents were so outspoken against it. But, now that I'm all grown up I decided to do some research on my own. I wanted to understand all aspects of this issue. I kept the Church's stance in the back of my mind, but I really tried to make my own decision. This document really helped me understand all the complexities and future consequences if Prop 8 were to be defeated:

This document was submitted to the courts after they overuled the outcome of Prop 22. It is an arument for a) why this issue should be decided by the people and not the courts, and b) why the people should vote to protect the definition of marriage.

I reccomend starting with page XX, and then moving on to whatever point you are most interested in. For me, pages 6-24 were probably the most helpful, though I thought all of it was enlightening. Check out the table of contents before reading to see what interests you most.
